Cannot believe he had to do that crying scene without Colin Roberts!
This movie is fascinating. It's not enjoyable, really, except in the sense that good art is always enjoyable. It's so sad and yet not at all manipulative.
The Ed character, thanks to Callum, is incredibly interesting. My first reaction was that he's every mother's nightmare of what would happen to her kids if she were gone. So distant, so ill-equipped. Yet he's loving (and has that incredible gentleness common to a lot of CKR characters). Watching Ed is like watching someone trying to play the piano with mittens on. Painful, frustrating, poignant. This is a really good movie.
