I love how Laramie intellectualizes the whole thing. I'm guessing he wouldn't say he hates women, he'd say they're simple creatures and he understands them and how to manipulate them.
And what I love (because I love complex shit like this) is that he's not entirely wrong! "She wants it over more than she wants to survive." We can see he's right, as Lily gets hysterical finding the diamonds (her ticket out of this mess) on the floor. In search of an ending, she ignores Laramie's repeated warnings to shut up and so she dies. And the speech he gives to Lily, as she holds the gun on him (I love when he turns his back on her to take off his jacket!) does what he intends! She thinks about it (her practical nature) and she gives up the gun.
So he's not stupid, just hateful (as much as I can hate a CKR character). Except, of course, when he tries to deliver his disarming speech to a girl who doesn't speak English! That made the ending sort of delightful to me.
I'm glad you agree with me about the physical acting thing! This part of his work makes me happy inside for two reasons. Three reasons...I just thought of a third one. 1) It's the economy of it. The way a picture's worth a thousand words --- if you have an actor who can embody an emotion or an intention or a personality with a movement or a head tilt or an expression...it speaks to you on a deeper level than exposition or dialogue. And when it's funny, it's funny on a deeper level. (Ray K is my fave for the physical comedy.) 2) It's all him. The script probably doesn't say "Laramie cocks his head and smiles." Right? 98% of the physical performance is what has NOT been written down for him. It's his creation. 3) I just like the way he moves. I just like the way he displaces the air. It knocks. me. down.

(Ok, shutting up now. :-)
