Today:
  • I had my yearly physical today.
  • The nurse wasn't able to do a blood draw today for blood work because the veins in my left arm were not cooperating and she didn't want to poke me multiple times. They're not allowed to jab my right arm for anything due to removed lymph nodes.
  • Pap smear - ugh.
  • I got the pneumonia vaccination
  • And the TDAP booster.
  • Went to my Tuesday old people zumba class
Wednesday:
  • Go to the lab for bloodwork with phlebotomists who can deal with my non-cooperative veins
  • Stop at MArket Basket and pick up a few necessities
Thursday:
  • Annual mammogram day - ugh.
  • Going to miss old people exercise class. See above
  • Go to the crafting social group and hopefully finish Frederick the Literate which has been a ufo for *mumblemumble* years

Weekend ahoy!

Work was busy Wednesday through Friday so not a huge amount of progress on #project65days.

It's now the weekend and day 12 of #project65days.

I'd planned to do half days on the allotment and half days cleaning the flat but due to weird sleep patterns (or lack of sleep) I'm going to do a full day on the flat today and tidy the tiny front garden. Then I plan to have an early night so I can do a full-ish day on the allotment tomorrow.

I've got a tip run around 9:30am today and at 10:30am tomorrow so I can get 2 hours of decluttering and sorting done before this morning's run.

Plan of action for Saturday:

* continue decluttering and load car
* tip run and garden centre
* pot up/sort out houseplants in bathroom
* wash and store empty plastic plant pots for use next year
* quick surface clean everywhere
* tidy & weed front garden
* prune roses
* empty and clean pots in front garden
* empty and clean pots on porch roof
* start tackling the chaos that is my bedroom (there's a whole 30 point bullet list for this)!

That will do for today. Onwards!

Project 65 days - day 9

More progress!

Yesterday I did a tip run with a full car - 10 bags of rubbish, a load of paper and cardboard, a bag of tins and some sadly deceased houseplants and soil.

I've booked 2 more tip runs on Saturday and Sunday morning - to keep the momentum going!

I've scanned a whole load of old toiletries - 39 items - to the Boots (a local pharmacy for non-UK folks) Scan to Recycle scheme. When you recycle 5 items and spend £10 you get a bunch of loyalty points which can be used for future purchases - you can only do 1 drop of 5 items per day to get points. So I have 8 days (plus £80) of spending to get those points. The small bag of recycling will live in my car and over the next couple of months I should work through it without having to do 'extra' spending to qualify. Which means by Xmas I should have a bunch of loyalty points to put towards buying some nice scent or just covering spending next year.

EARLY MORNING WINS

* Cat food order (Republic of Cats) placed for mid August delivery
* Cat food order (Untamed) delayed until mid Sept
* Oddbox order tweaked (fortnightly fruit and veg delivery)
* Remembered to put plastic/aluminium recycling out for collection (first time in about 8 weeks)!
* Assembled a salad for lunch to take to work
* Packed work bag including all items which need actioning today

I should have just enough cat food left from the stockpile to last until the mid-August delivery and clearing the recycling means the last bit of current clutter from the hall, landing and stairs is gone.

This evening I'm hoping to have enough energy to do a bit of cleaning and continue my digital decluttering.

So far I've managed to get on top my primary and secondary incoming email (after a purge last week) though there are still a few items to delete or file in my inboxes. The big issue is I've had my primary Gmail account for 20 or so years and there's a whole load of archived email in sub-folders that I need to check, save to Dropbox if critical or delete. I think I need to dedicate 15-30 mins a day to start working through these - they might then be sorted by Xmas.

And then there's the rest of the digital cluttering- downloads and pictures but that's a problem for future me.

Work goals for today/tomorrow

* get both inboxes up to date
* complete outstanding tasks from incoming email
* make a plan to finish issuing inspection notices this week
* book September inspections in diary
* cemetery rep to schedule meeting/cemetery site emails

Time to hop in the shower and head out!

Doing ALL the things - August goals

Having stepped over, around or turned a blind eye to the chaos immediately around me I spent a chunk of last week wrestling a semblance of order into parts of the flat.

I've surfaced cleaned and tidied my kitchen. The small bag of items to sort as part of the Boots Scan to Recycle scheme has been emptied and scanned and most items will be dropped off today (with the pending ones going either tomorrow or Wednesday). The other small bag of misc stuff has also been sorted, put away or chucked. My kitchen floor is clear of trip hazards, my work surfaces are cleared and I have a meal plan and a fridge, fruit and veg bowl full of healthy and nourishing food. The kitchen will have a deep clean in my first week off work.

I've also emptied and sorted 5 boxes of stuff and 2 bags of items that were cluttering up my hall, landing and stairs and audited my cat food stash so I can unfreeze my subscription. The cats get Untamed and Republic of Cats on alternate month subscriptions but yours truly stuffed something up a while back and I ended up with a 3.5 month stockpile! This has mostly been eaten so today I'll unfreeze one order to arrive mid-month and set the other to come in around mid September and then I should be back on track.

Now the boxes and bags have gone I can once again get into and out of the flat without having to shimmy past various obstacles. Alas my recycling box for plastics doth floweth over so I need to see if I can take any of those to the tip this lunchtime.

I spent quite a bit of time over the weekend deep cleaning the bathroom and now it sparkles and smells delightful and I have uncovered a bunch of bath bombs, lotions and potions and will be indulging like a hedonist for the whole month. I am fully embracing the concept of Use The Nice Things (*whispers* before the apocalypse comes).

Whilst cleaning the bathroom I realised there are 4 things I do need to do before autumn/winter sets in:

1. Book a service for the boiler. It's been behaving a bit oddly over summer (hot water cutting out mid-shower then coming back on again) and I think it may need a new pump.

2. Couple of minor plumbing tasks in the bathroom: I think the seal between the cistern and where it rests on the top of the loo may be showing some wear and tear and there's an issue with the pipe coming from the sink too (another minor leak). I'm debating whether to put on my big girl pants and You Tube a solution or whether it would be a better use of my time and way less stressful to just pay a plumber.

3. The outside of the stable door from the bathroom to the back garden needs sanding, staining and varnishing. I forgot to do it last year and it now looks rather sad.

4. Similarly the front door and front gate could do with a coat of paint before the rain starts!

I do need to review my To Do List of Doom - there were 300+ tasks on it in January. Some of those have been done but it's long overdue a proper review.

I'm currently 8 days into #Project65Days - seeing how many things I can get done before the end of September (current goal do 4 things a day) when hibernation mode sets in and I don't want to do anything apart from be a sloth until March!

Onwards and upwards - I have the morning off, a tip run at lunchtime and then will be working afternoon through evening. Time to get a wiggle on.

Missing in action

Today I thought I should update DW as I've been MIA for a couple of months only to find my last entry was 2 February.

Apparently I have been reading but not really posting or commenting. Put it down to the fact that when things are pants I direct my rage via other more pulic platforms and have spent a lot of time over the last few months signing all the petitions, sending money when I can to places where I think it might have the most effect and writing increasingly pissed off letters to my MPs and councillors.

For my own sanity I think I need to have one online space which strives for a sense of normality and that's going to be DW. Everything else is over on my Twitter, Threads and Insta accounts.

In a brief catch up what I have I been doing since February? Working and possibly doing so excessively from March through to last week as (a) spring/summer are my busy seasons and (b) there's a lot of change going on. At one point I was about 100+ hours in-hand with flexi time (it's a lot less now). I've spent some time on the allotment, less time in the garden and the flat is still chaos.

On the plus side I am getting to grips with the flat after 5 months of ignoring or stepping over or around things, the allotment doesn't look too bad and I have a plan to whip the garden into shape this month.

I've got two weeks booked off (15 August to 1 September) and the plan is to sort out the allotment, garden and do some maintenance on the flat. I also plan to go to Wales the last week of the month.

I'm also looking negotiate working remotely for some chunks of time over the autumn/winter season - possibly the last two weeks in October, the last week in November and first week of December and a week to 10 days in January, February and March.

Fingers crossed it all happens!
