I think in North America it's perceived as a rich man's game. But in Scotland, like, there's a golf course attached every... every town. Like, so you can walk to the course from main streets. So it's very... has this sort of working class roots. Which... which I dig. You know? Being from there.
( I've probably been very selfish on a lot of levels, and, you know. I've passed over certain things that may have- You know, relationships and whatnot, 'cause I was focused on career. But trying to find an equal balance between career and having a- a life. And a life with... you know, some great people, to have that work out, I think is the way to go. )
ETA: The video of the interview is now available on YouTube; part 1, part 2, part 3.

( Rennie was on his way to the screening of Claire's Hat, the renamed mockumentary about the making of Picture Claire, the contentious Bruce McDonald feature in which he co-stars and which is exiled to video store gulag. )
I decided to post this just the way it was published, even though the 'Johnny Tallent' thing is a bit annoying.

The Out-Of-Towner
In his diary on the making of the feature film Flower and Garnet, Vancouver actor Callum Keith Rennie looks back on the 25 day shoot, most of which took place in the small B.C. town of Ashcroft.

( On the day before production begins, I drive to Ashcroft with my dog, but without a map. I take the Coquihalla; there is a sign the size of a postage stamp that says 'Ashcroft'. Check into hotel. The room is very small. The carpet is suspect. I ask myself, 'What am I doing here?' Oh yeah, I signed up for this. Note to self: Never touch the carpet. )

This article has already been posted in transcript form by

( Rennie appears to have outgrown his rebel phase; or maybe he has just outlasted it because in its truest form, a rebel goes out in flames - and Rennie is still here. )

( When I read that it makes me cringe, because it makes it sound like I was a bad ass and I was really just someone who'd got lost in their life and I had sandals on. Ok? I had sandals on and I wasn't looking for trouble. )

neu111 noticed that there's a error in the transcript; it's The Hanson Brothers, not The Handsome Brothers and also dug out some links about Tom Holliston:

( Generally they just seem to be able to place my face but not my name. Sort of the ‘haven’t I seen you someplace before?’ thing. Although, I did go in to pick up my golf clubs the other day and the guy behind the counter said ‘I saw you having sex on TV last night. I can’t remember what I was watching though.’ I asked him if there were a lot of sex scenes, and he said ‘I don’t know. I fell asleep after half an hour.’ )
