So! Kellie's fic True Colors (http://kellie.mrks.org/fic/ds/truecolors.html) features the unnamed protag as "Marty"-the-hairdresser, who is paired about halfway through with PG's character from Cold Comfort. The main pairing is F/K. The fic is really long, though, and there's a lot of "Marty," who I think is pretty in-character and remains fairly positive as a person even after having lost Frank (that is not a part of the narrative).
