Yeah, I agree that Mike is written (and played) to be extremely insightful and sensitive. To a point that, for me, it's almost funny. That's why I'm torn between the "awww" and the "heh" on Bliss.
But, like I said, I come at it as fluffy soft porn, and judge it on that scale. Based on those expectations, it succeeds.
And you're right, Callum plays it totally straight, and he does it well, and I heart him for that. I see the similarities you're talking about. I think Duck in Wilby Wonderful (a better movie...on a whole nother Better Movie Planet, in the Galaxy of Better Movies...) is a good comparison.
