Having sat through all of the sweet (if uneven) season 1 of The L Word with an overwhelming feeling of 'meh', it was with some trepidation that I approached those three CKR episodes. Would they make sense to someone like me (who had skipped ALL of season 2 and a large part of the third season)? Would it matter?
Apparently, the answers were: 1. who cares? and 2. not really.
Great post, mandysbitch. You are a brave soul to have tackled this show.
And it might all have been easier to stomach if the show's creator and showrunner, Ilene Chaiken, hadn't been prone to taking herself, and the show, a little too seriously [. . .] And why they kept the awful theme song for five seasons (it debuted in the 2nd season) despite unanimous protest, I'll never know.
Oh, IC is infamous for being all srs bizness and not really caring about her audience. Case in point the L Word's huge WTFry of a finale.
But all credit to Callum, he takes the part of an asstastic loser and makes sure he's the biggest asstastic loser he can be. You have to give him points for being completely believable.
He does and that's why my heart shrunk a little upon seeing him in this show. But, that's our Callum. He's a trouper!
